Future care arrangements

Gretton is planning to develop residential accommodation in the near future, which will be based upon a supported living model in small groups. Each home group will have a co-ordinator whose task it is to safeguard the well-being and welfare of the residents, and supervise all staff attached to the house. Each resident will have their own single bedroom and will be encouraged to personalise it. In addition, there will be waking night staff to ensure the residents’ safety and wellbeing. Breakfast and supper will be taken in the home groups, where young people will be encouraged to take part in preparing meals and washing up. Older residents will plan and shop for food as part of their preparation for adult life. Gretton is committed to promoting healthy eating and pupils are taught from an early age to make healthy choices. Life in the home groups will follow daily routines in order to provide the security, consistency and continuity needed by the pupils and young people. Leisure activities including clubs, outings and visits, will be arranged regularly and support Gretton’s future 24 hour approach to learning.
