“Navigating the SEN Maze” is a seminar hosted at Gretton School in Cambridge with John Friel, a leading education barrister and Melinda Nettleton, a special needs specialist solicitor to help parents, carers and professionals understand the system of special education in the UK.

Topics will include: the current landscape and latest changes; parents rights; practical guidance to moving through the stages of the SEN (Special Educational Needs) Code of Practice; making and structuring a statement of SEN and funding. A buffet lunch will also be included.

John Friel is a highly experienced practitioner at Hardwicke and has handled a large number of highly complex cases in the Special Education Needs Tribunal. John is recommended as a leader in his field in the Legal 500 and listed in Chambers UK as an Education Law specialist. Melinda Nettleton qualified in 1980 and focuses on special education needs cases at her own practice SEN Legal.

At this seminar, there will also be the opportunity to hear the latest news about Gretton School and to meet its team of staff. A tour of the recently refurbished school site will be available which includes both day and residential facilities.

We look forward to welcoming parents and carers, support groups and other parties.
