Therapies
The speech and language therapist (SALT) carries out an assessment of every pupil, and targets set are added to the individual’s IEP. The SALT provides group and individual sessions, as well as training for staff to carry out specific programmes to support pupils’ language development at all times. The school has a total communication approach using the Picture Exchange Communication System, alongside augmentative electronic aids and communication books where required. The school provides occupational therapy as well as music, play and art therapy, where beneficial to individuals.
