Safeguarding
Learners at Gretton School are encouraged to speak to any member of staff if they have concerns or worries and are also made aware of the safeguarding team members by posters up and around the school. There is also a dedicated email address which they can access from their school account if they would rather not speak to someone face to face: worried@grettonschool.com

Visitors are asked to speak to a member of the safeguarding team if they have any concerns or worries about the safety of learners or staff in school. This is identified on arrival at school with the presentation of an information leaflet.
Staff are guided to speak to a member of the safeguarding team and record concerns on MyConcern (the schools safeguarding recording system) in line with the school's safeguarding policy.
Gretton School adopts a proactive approach when it comes to promoting safeguarding and this includes the school's response to bullying and prejudice.

It is really important to talk to a member of staff in school if you have any concerns about bullying.
We encourage you to work with us to help our young people learn about the impact of negative behaviours.

Early Help Offer
Our team is here to work with families who may need to explore additional support within the home. We run internal TAFs (Team around families) and TACs (Team around the child) in order to draw together all those involved to determine how best to support the young person and their families. This may include external referrals to partner local authorities, CAMHS, support services and Early Help services to name a few.
For families interested in accessing local provision, all local authorities have what's known as a 'local offer' and families are invited to explore what services are available to them within their community.
Pastoral
The approach to pastoral care at Gretton School is as individualised as the learners who join us. We operate an open door policy and work on the principle that every day is a new day with a clean slate.
Our team has many years' experience working with children and young people to ensure that they feel accepted, cared for and safe. They support learners to explore their great potential and develop confidence over time in who they are.
Staff understand the importance of providing learners with stability, support and consistency and work closely together to prepare learners for adulthood.
Gretton School offers learners the opportunity to be reflective and work restoratively to repair and develop relationships. We believe that what we do here is genuinely transformative.
Social Development
There is a wide range of clubs and activities in which learners can participate; from football to Dungeons & Dragons and many others in between, all tailored to learners' specific interests.
On a Friday afternoon younger learners can also access special interest sessions.
All these provide opportunities for learners to build confidence away from the classroom, build relationships and face and overcome challenges.
Learners at Gretton School also benefit from PSHE sessions which cover social and moral topics within a safe and supportive environment.
At Gretton we see every conversation as a learning opportunity to develop learners' social understanding.
