Maths
Geometry (angles, bearings and circles), proportion and ratio, interpreting and representing data, non calculator methods and algebra.
English Language
Coursework Assignment 3 - An essay response to a non-fiction article linked to the criminal justice system. Learners will develop skills of interpretation of text and application of persuasive techniques in writing.
Science

Chemistry - Acids and alkalis, calculating empirical formulae, formula masses and the mystery that is Avogadro's Constant. Followed by electrolytic processes and metals, reversible reactions and reactions of the transition metals.

Biology - Genetics, evolution and genetic modification. Followed by health, disease and the development of medicines.

Physics - Light and the electromagnetic spectrum followed by radioactivity.

Entry Level - Forces and movement followed by health, disease and development of medicines for biology.
Careers
In careers this half term we will be talking about entering the world of work linking with PSHE as we build CV’s and discuss interview techniques. After half term we will be focusing on life skills required to live independently.
PSHE
The right career for me; CV building; STEM careers; preparing for work experience, overt & covert racism; county lines; anti social behaviour.
PE
Spring 1- Health related fitness (vertical jump test, 30 metre sprint, reaction time, illinois agility test).
Spring 2- Net & Racket (badminton, tennis, hockey, lacrosse & volleyball).
Option Subjects
BTEC Sport
Spring 1- Unit 2- Practical skills- Knowledge of components of fitness as well as demonstrating practical skills in isolated, competitive situations. Rules, regulations and roles and responsibilities of officials in chosen sports and suggested improvements.
Spring 2- Coursework catch up- Completing outstanding work from unit 6, 2 and 3 before revision for unit 1 online examination.
Food Technology
Learners will be working towards and taking their BTEC assessments.
Design Technology (DT)
NCFE level 1 - Individual projects.
Art
Bronze Arts Award - model making.
History GCSE
In History this term, we will finish our study about Norman England, 1066 to 1088, and find out about the feudal system, Norman Church reforms, how the Normans governed England and what happened in England when William the Conqueror died. After half term, we will be starting our topic on ‘Superpower relations and the Cold War’ by investigating the origins of the Cold War between 1941 and 1958 and finding out how and why the Grand Alliance broke apart, the importance of the Marshall Plan and the creation of the Soviet satellite states in Eastern Europe. We will then find out about the 1948 Berlin Crisis, the formation of East and West Germany and of NATO and the Warsaw Pact. To finish, we will look at the arms race and the Hungarian uprising in 1956.
BTEC Music
Creating professional profiles. Developing composition with a range of techniques.
Drama
Preparing for LAMDA exams - preparing two monologues ready for performance.
Computer Science
Alongside a case study on the appropriate use of AI, we will predominantly continue to learn Python. We will focus on learning to use functions and reading and writing to files. We will also look at the legal issues surrounding computing.
