Curriculum Information for Year 11

Note: If you are not sure who your child’s teacher is for certain subjects or what option subjects your child is studying then please contact your child's form tutor for more information.

 

English (Dr Csengei):

Having successfully completed their English coursework, learners in this group will be revising for the Cambridge iGCSE English language reading paper, then sitting this paper in early May. 

 

English Literature (Dr Csengei)

This term learners will be revising for the Edexcel English literature iGCSE. We will start with poetry, followed by Shakespeare and An Inspector Calls. Learners will be getting regular revision and homework activities to complete, mainly in the form of poetry annotations and short essay questions. 

 

Maths (Mr Stephen):

Revision during the summer term typically involves practising a wide range of word problems, completing past papers and identifying areas where additional support may be needed. Learners may also seek guidance from teachers, utilise online resources, and work through revision guides to strengthen their skills and confidence ahead of the exam.

 

PE (Mr Green and Mr Lee):

This term, learners will be completing a summer term sports unit, in which they will learn what a summer sport is as well as working on their fine motor skills to support movement and a healthy active lifestyle. We will also work on the skills involved when throwing, kicking and catching. Learners will take part in gameplay which will work on enhancing their social skills, communication and teamwork which all link in with our core British values. Learners will also gain a clear understanding of how to officiate games so that they are fair and played by the correct rules. 

 

PSHE (Mr Watkins):

During the final term, learners will be discussing and exploring topics around animal rights, plastic pollution, British Values and multiculturalism. We’ll then move onto topics to support them with their final exams, offer revision sessions and recap any topics from the school year - please see our school website for further details.


 

Option Subjects.

 

Chemistry GCSE (Mrs McCran):

This half term the learners are following a comprehensive revision course covering all the topics from the last two years of the GCSE course, in time for the exams just before and after half term.

 

Physics GCSE Mr Doza and Mr Gamble): 

This half term the learners are following a comprehensive revision course covering all the topics from the last two years of the GCSE course, in time for the exams just before and after half term.

 

Biology GCSE (Mr Doza and Mrs Chagger)

This half term the learners are following a comprehensive revision course covering all the topics from the last two years of the GCSE course, in time for the exams just before and after half term.
 

Entry Level Further Science (Mrs McCran): 

This term Entry Level completes the course with the short topic of energy and particles, in time for an early May submission.

ICT (Mr Rowntree):

Learners are preparing to retake their Online World exam and are reviewing and revising the topics covered in that unit. They are also working on their own projects and should complete Sold 3 around half-term. They would have the second half of the summer term to work on further personal activities to develop their ICT skills.

 

Drama (Mrs Khairdean):

Learners are currently working towards their Grade 6 Acting - the exam is on 6/7th July. 

They are practising the following skills:

A: Perform 2 Grade 6 scenes from memory demonstrating an understanding of the material

B: Use vocal skills in response to the text

C: Use the face, body and performance space in response to the text

D: Know the characters and situations in the chosen scenes

Art (Mrs Easton):

This term, learners are working on their individual projects as well as creating stencils to work with the visiting spray artist. Some learners have also started their units for their Silver Arts Award which involves planning, delivering and evaluating their teaching sessions.

 

BTEC Sport (Mr Green): 

Learners in BTEC sport will be finishing their unit 6 assignment work around sports leadership and how sports leaders conduct themselves. Moving on from this learners will be completing the unit 1 exam and will be revising for this. Learners will be learning how to break down, answer and understand exam questions to support them during the exam.
