Year 11/12 English Language
Teachers: Mrs Margarita, Miss McGhee, Mr Sullivan

This half-term, learners will be revising for their upcoming GCSE examinations. They will hone grammar and punctuation skills to improve upon the structure of their written work and revisit the format of the various forms of writing. In addition, they will examine the style and content of the more complex questions in the GCSE, as well as completing some practise papers.

After the exam, learners will have the opportunity to study English Literature. They will read the novel ‘Of Mice and Men’ and discuss the social, historical context, themes and characters. This will allow learners to deepen their analytical skills before beginning the course the following year.

As a result, learners will revisit topics that are group relevant from all areas that have been studied in KS4, with a focus on revision skills, exam study techniques, improving mental and physical well being in preparation for exams and work experience, and how to manage their stress, as the end of school for some approaches.

Careers
Learners will engage in conversations around adulthood and independent living, including conversations on household tasks and responsibilities, maintaining friendships into adulthood and other learner-led topics.
