On Thursday 26th November, Mrs Elkins attended a virtual awards ceremony in which our magnificent provision was nominated for the Best SEN Provision Award 2020. The Education Business Awards, recognising excellence since 1998, chose a handful of schools out of thousands who strive to provide a better future for children through education.
Presenting these awards, live online for the first time due to Covid, were award-winning comedy impressionist and classically-trained singer Jess Robinson who was joined by voiceover artist and impressionist Darren Altman.
Gretton had some stiff competition, up against Lexten Springs School in Essex, Millgate School in Leicester and Joseph Clarke School in London.
Mrs Elkins held her breath in anticipation as the hosts reached our category, the SEN Provision of the Year Award 2020, they built up the atmosphere with their 'Dermot O'Leary' style tense pause...

And the crowds went (virtually) wild!

Angela Pisanu, Editor of Education Business Magazine commented: "Gretton School scooped the Education Business SEN Provision Award in recognition of the first class education it provides to children on the autism spectrum, and for taking care of the physical and mental wellbeing of pupils and staff during the coronavirus pandemic."
Beth Elkins, Gretton’s Headteacher, says: “It is just lovely to even be nominated for an award - the thought that people 'out there' have not only heard of Gretton, but have recognised all that we do is wonderful. To win the award was astonishing! I was in the virtual awards ceremony, and - when the SEN Provision of the Year category came up - I found I was holding my breath! We were up against some very worthy opponents, so when they announced that we had won, it was just so exciting! What a recognition! Though, when I look at the staff and all that we do for and with our wonderful young people, it feels like recognition of the very best kind. We are really delighted.”
