Diffusion & Osmosis

Students have been really benefitting from using the new Science lab built over this summer. It's such a fantastic space to carry out both practical and theory lessons. Staff and students alike are very much enjoying this larger space to facilitate the learning of such a loved subject at Gretton.


As part of the Biology GCSE course, our Year 11 students have been studying the movement of particles.


They explored the effect of volume on diffusion (the pink coloured agar cubes immersed in diluted acid).


They also investigated the effect of sugar concentration on the movement of water into or out of potato chips by osmosis. Here are some shots of them in action.
